   THEORY: The end is very open, so Walter himself says he does not know as I get to that point in his explanation of the future Peter . My opinion is that Peter died when Walter went back in time to steal and I think the war we all know. However, the first time Peter died on the ice (do not help the observer) and therefore the observer says the final sentence of the chapter. Over the years (without machine) both universes are destroyed and then the observer would say you plan to Walter, which he built the machine that sent the last in the wormhole. In this new line saves time to see if Peter and occurs as we have seen all season until they are destroyed again (we've seen in this episode). Walter then rebuilds the machine and send it in time for the new timeline and Peter might be able to see the future that awaits them (in fact the timeline above) and as Peter is a paradox of time travel I suppose that goes away (although this has become more difficult to explain). To summarize, Walter built the machine recommended by the observer, which is responsible for making changes in each timeline for the universe not come to destroy, and Peter is a simple paradox that makes it all work.
